Anti-social behaviour doesn’t just affect cities and towns; it harms rural communities too. But in the countryside, it’s often hidden, underreported, and unresolved. This ASB Awareness Week (30th June – 6th July), we’re highlighting the unique challenges rural areas face when it comes to anti-social behaviour.
Fly-tipping continues to rise, with over 1.15 million incidents reported in 2023/24 – a 6% increase. What looks like a nuisance is often linked to organised waste crime, damaging land, threatening livestock, and costing communities time, money and trust.
We’re also seeing more rural catapult attacks, targeting animals, property and people. These are not harmless pranks. We’re calling for stronger local responses, responsible selling, and greater recognition that rural anti-social behaviour is real and serious.
